Pelikan is a German company with seat in Hanover. On 16th October 1932 it delivered its first consignment of writing supplies and inks to its Zagreb branch in Klaićeva 58. Pelikan was famous in Zagreb for its inks and fountain pens. In 1947, it incorporated the firm Kores Ltd. (founded in 1934), industry for production of chemically treated paper, carbon paper and inks in Vlaška 81, and Lederer Chalk Industry (founded in 1933).
In 1951, Pelikan changed its name to become Karbon.
