The factory was founded by Mijo Arko in 1867. The production was continued by his son, Vladimir Arko, with expanded assortment of products which were to include spirits, yeast, liqueurs and chemical products. After World War I modern technology was introduced and the production was greatly increased. Substantial finances were invested into modern promotion and label design. The quality of the products and Vladimir Arko’s enterprising spirit kept the factory afloat during World War II. After 1945, under new conditions, the production continued and in 1950 the factory merged with Marijan Badel.
