First Croatian Oil Industry Ltd.
Zagreb, Branimirova 71
The factory was built in Baroševa (now Branimirova).
It was founded in 1916 and officially opened October 1, 1917 with a founding capital of 500,000 Crowns. High-quality salad and cooking oil fully met the needs of the domestic market. The factory also produced lighting oil, important for the railroads. After a modernisation project, salad and cooking oil began to be exported to the neighbouring countries, mostly to Austria, Germany and Czechoslovakia.
Yugoslav Oskar for Packaging was awarded in 1960 for the glass bottle for Zvijezda Oil.
In 1966 the factory introduced the new PVC packaging.
