Neva Cosmetics and Hygiene Industry
Zagreb, Vrbanićeva 28
Neva is the oldest Zagreb factory for cosmetics and hygiene products, founded in 1914. It was the result of a merger involving several older firms in the same business. Beiersdorf from Hamburg was Neva’s business partner with a branch in Zagreb as early as 1939. Other business partners included Odol, L’Oreal and Helena Winterstein from Vienna. After World War II Neva incorporated the nationalized firm called Rave, founded in 1922. The shareholders of Rave had a factory built in 1930 in Vrbanićeva Street, which after the war became the seat of Neva. In the early 1950s Beiersdorf from Hamburg became Neva’s business partner transferring the licence for the production of Nivea and Atrix creams to the Croatian factory. This successful collaboration continued even after Neva became part of Pliva in 1978.
