Lachman and Associate the First Croatian Candy Industry
Zagreb, Vlaška 69
The factory was founded in 1899 in Vlaška 69 and it is the oldest candy factory in Zagreb. In the late 1920s it was sold to Stjepan Španić and continued operation under the name Stjepan Španić the First Croatian Candy Factory (former Lachman and Associate). In 1928 it employed 28 women workers who laboured in very poor working conditions.
After the take-over by Španić, the factory changed the design of the candy tins using now a profile figure of a boy shown in negative on a red ground.
