During the second half of the 1940s, wine production companies were established with the goal of revitalizing Croatia's wine industry. In 1949, the state-owned company ‘Vinoprodukt’ was founded in Zagreb to lead the construction of industrial wineries across Croatia.
In 1946, the company ‘Vinalko’ was established in Split, which merged with the reorganized company ‘Dalmacijavino’ in 1961. During the 1960s, the companies began to merge; ‘Dalmacijavino’ merged with ‘Badel’ in 1968, and ‘Vinoprodukt’ and ‘Badel’ partnered in 1974.
