The history of mineral water production in Croatia spans nearly two centuries. Producers bottled the water in coloured glass bottles, usually often green ones, which preserved the water's flavour for a long time. The labels on the bottles listed the medicinal properties and mineral content of the water.
In the period between the two World Wars, mineral waters were advertised through promotional brochures, posters, and flyers.
In the 1960s, companies strengthened their marketing concepts and began targeting consumers. Working with advertising agencies, they created advertising slogans and television commercials.
Over time, the packaging adapted to current trends. The designs of bottles and labels evolved over the decades. Redesigns often combined traditional, recognizable brand elements with modern design trends.
Soda water, water enriched with carbon dioxide, was bottled in glass soda siphons with a metal handle mechanism. Soda water was once believed to have medicinal properties. Before mineral waters became widespread, they were added to wine to prepare spritzers and to prepare soft refreshing drinks by adding herbal extracts and sugar.
